So I’m on a spending freeze. I have enough materials to make a full 12 look collection I’m sure, but that hasn’t stopped me from window shopping, not one bit. I figure now is the perfect time to craft myself to death. Get those creative juices flowing, ya know. Those who have little to no disposible income are always the most creative. They have no choice. Being resourceful and crafty to have the life and style they want comes natural to them. Everyone else, myself included, just whips out the credit card. My mantra for this year was not to buy anything that I could make myself. Since thrifting doesn’t count, I’ve been doing pretty good. Although I could do more if I was willing to take more risks. I’ve experienced finishing a garment and totally hating it. The worst. But I guess that’s the thrill of creating anything in life, you really have no idea how it will turn out until you try.

I’ve been playing with the idea of going to school for fashion or getting more involved in the fashion world (seems to be one of my passions), but the fear of failing or not being s “fashionista” is keeping me from making any moves.
I am so sorry to hear that D. But the first step is the hardest. And you will probably surprise yourself at how good you are. I’ve learned that fashion is less about what others think, and more about living your own vision. sounds cliche, but I find that I perform best when I just go off my own hunches. Let me know how things turn out!
